On November 7th a large group of CCFC members went by bus on a South County History Trip which included visiting:

Eufloria Flowers - this has been a premier grower of varietal roses for over seven generations.  Their flowers are of rare quality and performance, and are consistently recognized as the most beautiful roses throughout the industry,

The Lopez Lake Water Treatment Plant - Lopez lake's purpose is to provide drinking water for Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Pismo Beach, Oceano and Avila Beach. It also provides groundwater recharge, water for irrigation and flood control. Unlike most municipal water supplies, human contact with the water is permitted. Sailing, water skiing, swimming, fishing and camping are popular activities. There is also a waterslide next to the lake. To prevent contamination of the drinking water, water from the lake is piped three miles (5 km) to a terminal reservoir, where it remains to allow particles to settle out and pathogens to die off. The water then goes through flocculation, filtration and chlorination at the Lopez Water Treatment Plant,

And lunch at Jocko's Steakhouse - the wait is sometimes two hours or longer on weekends; but the dining experience is well worth it. Once an Old West saloon in the late-19th century, the popular eatery in the quaint town of Nipomo is now a raucous, high-energy haven for lovers of good steak, especially those cooked Santa Maria-style over a roaring, fragrant oak fire. Jocko's portions are famously large.

As always, a wonderful time was had by all, and we can't wait for the next fun outing!

*Supporters' Luncheon/Open Meeting

In early spring, CCFC Active, Supportive, Trustee and Provisional Members and invited guests attend a luncheon and fashion show, often held at San Luis Obispo Country Club.  We have the pleasure of hearing from our grant recipient organizations.  Each of the agencies spokesperson share very interesting insights into how the CCFC grant monies have benefited the children  involved in their program.

The afternoon ends with the awarding of raffle gifts to the lucky winners.  This is a favorite CCFC event…..it is what gives meaning to all of our efforts.
